Chatham Historic Dockyard

Live Status & Taxi Transfers

The Chatham Historic Dockyard is an eighty-acre preserved maritime estate positioned along the tidal banks of the River Medway. The site is a rare example of a complete Georgian dockyard, characterised by its massive timber-framed covered slips and a 400-meter-long Victorian rope-making facility. Its grounds serve as a permanent mooring for three distinct historical vessels, ranging from a 19th-century sail-powered sloop to a 20th-century Cold War submarine. Architecturally, the area features a concentration of Grade I and II listed brick buildings, including the 1704 Commissioner’s House, all situated within a fortified perimeter designed for naval defense.
